More About Simulcast Operations

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind when you setup a simulcast definition: When you add a simulcast period, any spots within a period on slave stations are removed from the log and placed on the bump spot list. You cannot access the simulcast period on slave logs. If you later remove the simulcast period, the original log template re-appears on the slave station logs.

It is even possible to export a log segment from a simulcast slave station even though you cannot access or see the log. The original log template is present. It would export any log directives for automation systems, but no spots would be present.

A typical simulcast order is placed for the controlling station only. It is not necessary to actually schedule spots for simulcast slave stations. If you did, they would be placed on the bump list anyway because the log period is simulcast.

An exception to this is a Combo / Simulcast order. This order will generate spots for the simulcast stations. They are hidden from your view as long as the controlling station spot is in the simulcast period. The combo spots will not appear on the bump spot list. If you move the controlling station combo spot out of a simulcast period, the partner spots on slave stations will now appear on the bump list for those stations.

Old daily simulcast definitions are cleared when logs are accepted. Because simulcast definitions can cross Statement Groups, the definition will not be removed if any of the targeted slave stations within the definition still has an on line log for the definitions date.

Even if you never enter a Daily Simulcast definition, you still will have entries because the weekly templates actually produce daily entries.
