Using Statement Groups

Understanding and properly configuring Statement Groups is critical to the successful operation of Visual Traffic. Unless you properly define Statement Groups and then properly associate stations with those groups, you will run into major complications later on.

Statement Groups are a grouping of one or more stations. Stations can belong to just one Statement Group. All invoicing and statement functions are performed within these Statement Groups.

Because you may include many stations into a group, it is possible to enter only one order, which includes all stations, produce one invoice and mail one statement that includes billing for all of the stations’ in a group. This makes it much easier if you routinely sell advertisers multiple station orders.

Advertiser orders may be entered for any statement group although each advertiser will have a default group defined on the Advertiser dialog. If you define each station as a separate Statement Group, you will be required to enter a separate order for each station. This will also require you to separate process and produce invoices and statements for each station, or more properly, each Statement Group.

You can have as many Statement Groups as you need, but you should carefully think through the creation and use of the Statement Groups. Once you have assigned a station to a Statement Group, there is no going back. The relationship between a station and the Statement Group permeates the structure of the Visual Traffic database. There is no practical way to undo a wrong association.
