Log Reconcile - Things To Remember

At this point you should be reminded about a few potential problems concerning Log Reconcile. Since this function does a direct compare with the current log in VT, it should be obvious that you do not want to change the log after it is exported prior to running the Log Reconcile. If you do, the log is not the same as it was when you exported it. The reconcile will still work but it is no longer accurate due to changes.

Normally you run Log Reconcile after the entire day has been run by the automation system. However, sometimes you may want to run a reconcile before the day has ended. For example, you might run a reconcile at Noon to see what spots have been missed in the morning so you can make log changes, re-export the log, and hopefully catch them all in the afternoon.

Be careful when you run a reconcile on the current days log. You can normally update spot times for spots that have been played. That does not really hurt. Of course, if you run reconcile at Noon, the spots in the afternoon have not been played. You would have to run Reconcile again later to update those spot times.

The thing you Do not want to do is tell the reconcile program to bump the spots that did not play. If you do that at Noon, VT would bump every spot on the log from Noon to Midnight. Re-exporting the log would not help because there are no longer any spots on the log after Noon. You would have to place every spot that you bumped back on the log before the automation system would start playing spots again!
