Journal Entry Export

The Journal Entry Export function is accessed from the VT System Menu’s Export sub-menu, as well as from the Journal Maintenance dialog selected from the A/R Menu. No matter how you get here, the process is the same.

Journal Entry Export is the process of exporting the Accounts Receivable data for a period of time from VT in a file format that can be used by other software systems, usually General Ledger programs. You may choose from twelve export formats and select which journal entries are to be exported.

Depending upon the export format chosen, you may also be allowed to select which Journal Entry Fields to export and the order in which they are placed in the file.

 WARNING - Depending on the export file format chosen, this function may require programming and database skills to be used effectively. If you do not know how you plan to use these exported files, you should resolve that issue before attempting to export.

• Arrow - Daily Cashbook exports an Arrow Daily Cashbook file.
• Arrow - End of Month> Journal exports an Arrow End of Month Journal file.
• Comma Delimited exports a comma delimited or CSV file, which you can configure to suit whatever will be importing the file.
• Computer Concepts Accounting exports in a file compatible with the DOS Computer Concepts Legacy Accounting System.
• Fixed Length Binary exports a fixed-length binary field file, which you can configure to suit whatever will be importing the file.
• Great Plains - Customer List exports a Great Plains customer list file.
• Great Plains - Daily Cash exports a Great Plains daily cash file.
• Great Plains - Journal exports a Great Plains journal file.
• Great Plains - Transaction Detail exports a Great Plains transaction detail file.
• Great Plains - Transaction List exports a Great Plains transaction list file.
• QuickBooks Format exports a file for the QuickBooks accounting system.
• Tab Delimited exports a tab-delimited file, which you can configure to suit whatever will be importing the file.
• WBS InterAcct exports a file intended for Marketron’ InterAcct Accounting System.

All of these file exports except for binary are actually properly formatted text files that can be read using Windows Notepad or any text editor.
