Team Members Give Time and Resources to Support Local Medical Personnel
The COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented, affecting humanity on a global scale – but it’s the acts of kindness on the local level that will see us all through this crisis. Even though Marketron employees remain apart physically, they’ve found some powerful and novel ways to lend a hand and support their local communities.
Today we’re shining the spotlight on Marketron employees who are making a difference in three locations: Hailey, Idaho; Opelika, Alabama; and Denver, Colorado. Since both Hailey and Opelika are currently in coronavirus hot spots, we purchased 3-D printers for both offices to help employees there make protective gear for their local hospitals, clinics, and essential business workers.
In Hailey, Cory Wolfley and Cindy Karst lead the Marketron team to print ear savers for nurses, doctors, clinic staff, grocery stores – everyone who is providing essential services and is required to wear a face mask for many hours at a time. (If you haven’t seen them, ear savers are those ingenious straps that secure face masks behind the head, taking the burden off the ears and thus preventing irritation and discomfort.)
The Hailey team is also working tirelessly to fulfill a request from St. Luke’s Clinic for 500 face shields. Additionally, 20 local families, 17 of which include Marketron employees, have volunteered their time and talent to make face masks.
In Opelika, Marketron heroes including Mark White have used their 3-D printer to create more than 300 ear savers for essential workers. Our own Melissa Shive delivered a batch to East Alabama Medical Center’s Orthopedic Clinic. Steffen Sullivan was able to deliver the devices to his father, a paramedic in Pickens County who is handing them out to workers there. And Sherrie Davis provided 300 ear savers to her nephew, a nurse at EAMC on the COVID-19 floor, to share with those on the front line of the crisis.
Chad McDonald and Michael Brown are leading the efforts of our Denver office. Michael and friends are using 3D printers to make ear savers to provide to local hospitals, senior health care facilities and any location that expresses a need. Sky Ridge Medical Center, Denver Health and Covenant Village of Colorado have received deliveries with many more around the Denver Metro area on the way. Chanan Braunstein, Anna Neilson and Chad McDonald worked together to contact hospitals and coordinate deliveries. In addition, Kristin Bromm created a Food Bank of the Rockies site with the Denver Team to help support local families in need.
We are proud of our Marketron family and the time, care, and love these employees have put into supporting each other and their communities. No one knows when this crisis will end or when we’ll be able to be together physically once again. But our team members have shown the positive and powerful impact community outreach can have. They are great examples of how we can work together during this time to support those who need it the most.
