Data and reporting are essential to making the most informed decisions. Stations need a robust business intelligence tool to truly understand advertising sales across markets. Insight reporting provides rich information and numerous data points across markets and databases.

Find out how it works, what its capabilities are and the value it brings.

What Is Insight Reporting?

Insight reporting, simply put, is a business intelligence feature available in Marketron NXT. It’s flexible, allowing for ad hoc and customized report creation that consolidates revenue, pacing, inventory and aging data.

Sales managers appreciate Insight because it enables rolled-up reporting for multiple markets. As part of the NXT ecosystem, you can create custom dashboards for at-a-glance metrics that matter. There’s also the opportunity to go deeper and more granular.

Insight offers a unique view not available in traffic systems. You can build “as billed” reports for more context into this area of revenue.

Insight Reporting Capabilities: What Do You Want to Know?

The breadth of data within your revenue operations opens up numerous ways to report and learn from it. Base data comes from two primary sources: Marketron Traffic and NXT. The data reported is as of the end of the previous business day.

Building reports starts with what you want to know. Here are some examples.

  • Avails: View inventory data to learn how it’s being optimized.
  • Revenue: Gain insights into multiple revenue sources.
  • Sales projections: See the forecast for the entire company and by station.
  • Digital-specific reporting: Run reports on digital sales, including by tactic.
  • Budgets: Determine how sales are aligning with budgets.
  • Accounts receivable (AR): Create numerous reports on AR, such as month-end closing numbers.
  • Pacing: Compare different time frames.

Scheduled vs. Contracted

There are two views for data — scheduled or contracted. These are just different ways of looking at similar information.

Insight reports follow scheduled data. This category of data accounts for various operational factors and returns a value closer to actual billing rather than the ordered amount. Scheduled represents what actually happened with the spot.

Insight can transition to contracted data beyond boardfile dates. Contracted refers to orders in the system.

Customized Reporting Options

Insight really is custom. You can create a report to measure just about anything. In the report setup, you have options for the “what” and “how.”

  • What do you want to measure? Metrics relate to sales, inventory, AR, pacing and forecasting.
  • How do you want to measure? Define attributes like advertiser, daypart, billing cycle or revenue type.
  • Filter by a specific time frame, ranking or a numeric range.

The reporting opportunities can help you understand so much about revenue from all types of advertising. Some unique reports we’ve helped create for clients include:

  • Expiring contracts
  • Trade and barter analysis
  • Political tracking
  • Pacing to budget
  • Order activity forecasting
  • New business
  • Minutes of inventory used or sold by daypart

Our clients receive dedicated training on Insight so they can experiment with the many reporting options.

Insight Dashboards

Dashboards are also a feature of Insight. You build them based on previously created reports. The data refreshes, and you have the freedom to change your dashboard with different metrics.

With a customizable dashboard, you can see multiple numbers in one spot. Visibility broadens and can power data-driven decisions.

Automating Insight Reporting

Another valuable feature of Insight is the ability to schedule reports to run daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. Choose automated emailing to disperse to stakeholders. Formats for reporting include PDF, Excel and CSV.
